My name is Jaya Schippel, and I am an incoming freshman at Minnesota State University, where I will play goaltender for the women’s hockey team while majoring in Health Sciences. I am an international student from Edmonton Alberta, Canada, with plans to attend medical school after earning my undergraduate degree. I am passionate about giving back through my volunteer work at Ronald McDonald House, where I prepare holiday meals and support toy drives for families with sick children. I also enjoy pickleball, golf, and rowing, and I proudly represented Team Canada at an international rowing competition in London, England. Recently, I was invited to join the first all girls Team India hockey program, an opportunity that connects me to my East Indian heritage and supports the growth of women’s hockey.
